Welcome to another installment of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Vol. 3,
hosted by Linda at Studio L3. This is
the Thirty-first challenge in where we work through the techniques of Tim Holtz
from, you guessed it…his 3rd Volume of the Compendium of
Curiosities!! As in the past challenges,
we can’t give details on the challenge, so don’t ask, but do go get your own
copy of Tim’s fabulous book. Also, InspirationEmporium has offered an extremely generous $50 Gift Certificate for all the
odd numbered Challenges! So grab a copy, and join in to play!! All the deets are here, at Linda’s blog!
OK, this is pretty neat.
And a really great way to get lighter layers from the background to
still stand out.
I’m working on Marjie’s Online “Inventive Ink: Mixed
media effects" class, and finally got the smaller Dylusions Journal (Boy..that
size is freeing!!! The large one makes me overthink!) I also received my new Hickory Smoke Distress
Inks, so had to give them a try. So
after using the technique, I sprayed the pages with the Fossilized Amber and
Hickory Smoke stains. #1: Need more
spray stains #2: that Hickory Smoke is
AMAZING!!
I added the Honeycomb Frameworks, the
butterflies from the French Flight Framelits, a few more stamps and stencils,
and Yay! For the few inserts on the
honeycomb, I marbleized distress stains on some watercolor paper, then stamped
some random stamps with Broken China and archival black, then ran it with the
die. I also used Glossy Accents in a few
of the holes.
Now go visit the wonderful Curiosity Crew’s work
to see how they showcase their Paint resists! Have a great week everyone.
Great job on the journal pages, Kim! Love the honeycomb stencil and frameworks! Isn't that new Hickory Smoke just the best? I'm glad to see that you are enjoying one of Marjie's classes! Thanks for joining us for this challenge!
ReplyDeleteGreat pages that are simple looking, but that background is so wonderfully layered. Love the color! Thanks for joining in!!!
ReplyDeleteKim...I really like your art journal pages! The honey brown colors work perfectly with the honey comb stenciling and die cuts. The butterflies and added stamping also are really a nice touch. Thanks so much for sharing with us at CC3C. <3 Candy
