WOYWW #373

Hello, and welcome to another "What's on your Workdesk Wednesday" hosted by the lovely Julia at the Stamping Ground.

A bit late this week; not that I forgot, I just was too busy at work, so now I'm at home, hoping it cools down just a bit more so I can go to bed.  At least the humidity isn't as bad as yesterday...

So last night I worked on a birthday card for my Best Friend's son, who turns 21.  Since I have a few more cards due in early Aug., I forced myself to tidy up, hoping to start something else, but the craft room is upstairs, and the afternoon sun just made it unbearable...and do you get I hate summer?

So, there are the layering stencils I used on the card, the stamps I used on the card, and some dies in the top right. The peanut butter jar is for Dakota; but even she didn't stay upstairs to keep me company.  And the beads I bought for the Dragonfly canvas, but never used; but don't want to put a way, as the whole out of site, out of mind thing.

I did get some time on the journal over the weekend, Here are two of the spreads. The Cat one was started with pages that I cleaned my brayer on.  The stencils are from Stencil Girl.  The Celtic one is my homage to Outlander (books and TV series), and Scotland.  The lyrics are from the Skye Boat Song by Bear McCreary. The background was created with Dylusion's Sprays (and while bright, not nearly as bright/burned out) as the photo, and the stencils are again Stencil Girl.  I think the stamps are from Highlander Stamps, but I don't  think they are in business any more.

So, I hope you all have a great week, and stay cool! Now go hop over to see some more creative desks.

WOYWW #372

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround.  And we are back this week, as Julia has recouped from her surgery, and ready to take us back. Welcome back Julia! And a  Huge cheers for LLJ for doing such a great job keeping us together!

I’ve been on a roll! I even got a chance last night to get in here and play a bit. If this is what it’s like to be retired and have time to play…then I really need to win the lottery!   So I was back in my journal station, and I’ve been bound and determined to get my gelato’s to do that cool drippage thing.  Gessoing the page is truly the key.  But despite being in my happy place, I just couldn’t seem to cozy up to those bright happy gelato colors.  So played around with the more neutral ones…and yay!  Gelatos can do grunge! Now I see why so many people have multiple journals…the drying time can kill you!

Also in the view (and it’s a bit skewed, as I almost forgot to take a picture, so I’m standing at the side of the table) the still unfinished dragonfly canvas…with the new white iridescent winged dragonfly…just needs to get attached.  The green winged one will find a home on something else. To the front left are a pile of new stencils (I so love Stencil Girl!) and some of the currently used ones.  I thought file folders would work for storing…but no…  The little draw is holding all my gelato/supplies.  There are some paints I still have to put away.  Ummm, there is a lot I have to put away…

And here is a close up of the grungy pages.

And continuing from last week, here is the finished journal…my first pages in my attempt to use favorite songs to inspire me.  (and you know; it will drive me crazy that this book has non-music pages…should I just buy a new one now? And I’m not remotely OCD…) Of course my handwriting sucks; even with a lettering template I don’t like it….guess that’s what computer/fonts are for.

So please now head back to Julia's to see whee to portal next.  Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #371

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the Stamping Ground.  The Lovely LLJ has been keeping us desker’s going while Julia has been recouping, and I see that Julia is up to taking the reins back starting next week.  So Thank You Jan, for stepping in and keeping us together. You have done a Marvelous job!

First, my desk…actually got to work on my canvas last night!  After giving the first one to my retiring boss, I decided to make one for me…and this one is coming along much quicker!  So here is how I left the desk last night, with the flowers just being glued down.  I’m not sure about the dragonfly..this one has green wings, and I’m not sure the contrast is there; so I may make a new one with the silver wings Bonnie’s had.  Stay tuned!

Also, I had some time while on vacation (not as much as you would imagine!) last week to get in and play.  First up, some birthday and a baby shower cards.  Hubby, Sis-in-Law, and Stepson/wife shower.

And then some time in my journal: Finally got the Gelato’s to drip….thank you Gesso!!  Didn’t have time to work in it last night, now that it’s dry….but can’t wait!!

Ok, now go visit LLJ to see where to portal next.  Have a great week everyone.

WOYWW #370 I have been Double Dared...

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the Stamping Ground.  Julia is recouping from her surgery, so Lovely LLJ is keeping us together,  so hop over there to join the fun.

OK, I have been double-dog dared. And since I was away on vacation and have no work to show…here it is…my craft room with it’s three work desks, and technically 2 die-cutting stations…the Vagabond on the white cabinet in the nook, and a big shot out of view
on the lower right. (Some dies I just don’t trust running through the Vagabond…I had one near jam, and that was enough!)

Main desk is now for making cards, ATC’s and small items.  Side desk was the art journal and gelli plate area; and lately it’s overflow for letting things dry, using the laptop to flatten, and mostly during Christmas (Or WOYWW Anniversary) my assembly area for mass production. And now the no longer temporary card table for journaling, mixed media and gelli plate.  And yes, I still have a horrible amount of stuff on the floor…And don’t even ask about the closet!!!

It’s a shame I promised my husband when I took over his son’s room that I would keep it available for guests…there is a futon out of shot on the left, which while nice to lay down on while watching YouTube videos, I would really much rather have use of that wall space!  And I still honestly believe, with all my heart, that if I could have more than just a few stolen hours a week, it would be well organized, and while not clean, at least not so frightening looking! Oh, wait....have you seen my work office? Never mind...

Ok, now go visit LLJ to see where to portal next.  Have a great week everyone.
