Welcome to another installment of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Vol. 3,
hosted by Linda at Studio L3. This is
the Thirtieth challenge in where we work through the techniques of Tim Holtz
from, you guessed it…his 3rd Volume of the Compendium of
Curiosities!! As in the past challenges,
we can’t give details on the challenge, so don’t ask, but do go get your own
copy of Tim’s fabulous book. Also, TheFunky Junkie Boutique has offered an extremely generous $25 Gift
Certificate for all the even numbered weeks! So grab a copy, and join in to
play!! All the deets are here, at
Linda’s blog!
What a fun effect!!
I picked up these little bottles at the Heirloom Rubber Stamp Show in
Springfield, MA this past weekend. Good
thing as I, errr, have temporarily misplaced the small vials I have from Tim
Holtz and 7 Gypsies (although I think those are dark glass, so not sure how
they would have worked).
So here is my bottle of wishes. Except for a drying issue of the 2nd
step, due to some outrageous high humidity for upstate NY in June, everything
seemed to work as shown. Of course once
done, I had no idea what to do with them; so here is a small burlap panel,
coated a tad with Shabby Shutters Distress Paint. I played around with some Frameworks dies,
but ended up with this cool one from Tim’s Mixed media set. I wanted a bit of sparkle on the cut outs, so
used Distress Glitter..but it didn’t work the way I planned; probably should
have used Glossy Accents, as that’s what I used to attach the bottle and
border. The stamp is a new one also from
the show…I want to say Impression Obsession…could be Technique Junkie…
Now go visit the wonderful Curiosity Crew’s work
to see how they showcased this cool Eroded Metallic effect! Have a great week
everyone.
Love that sweet bottle, Kim! The technique turned out so well! Your composition is so lovely - nicely done! Thanks for joining us for this challenge!
ReplyDeleteThe distress glitter looks just fine from this side of the world! I love your bottle, what a cool shape. I can never remember the names of the company whose stamp I have used...unless it is Tim's of course! Great canvas. PS, the team did faux glass not eroded metallics as per your last line...you might want to edit that!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim. Great use of this faux cracked glass tutorial! You did a lovely job and I really like the design on your piece. Well done! Thanks for sharing with us at CC3C. <3 Candy
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that!?! Lovely. Thanks for sharing with us at CC3C.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty canvas, Kim! I love how your Cracked glass turned out! Interesting to hear you've had high humidity in your neck of the woods! It's been murder here! Temps in the high nineties for about 2 weeks now! Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog! It really made me feels special! Hugs!
