WOYWW #243

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground
….and you can see all the deets there.

Now, I wasn’t going to show my desk this week, because...well, it’s the same as last week.  Normally I’d be disappointed, except that it was a pretty good weekend. But, lo and behold, I did get some crafting in…during the week!  In of all places…work!

My employer is really big on raising money for charities, and every department is in charge of one fund raiser a year (any suggestions that my credit union can do? With only 2 of us in the department?  That takes minimal time…and doesn't involve meeting with other employees on a weekend???)

Well, our over the top PrePlan department is selling candy for Valentine’s Day. A few of the staff are making chocolates, and packaging them up.  And they asked if I could stamp the boxes.  Ahh, Duh!! And they liked them so much, I’m doing more today (I think they are actually for one of the girls making the chocolates…I don’t think they’ll sell this many! LOL!)
Now-hindsight; I probably should move all the loan documents and other reports out of the way for today’s stamping, to be sure I don’t get ink where it shouldn't be!! Red ink is not a friend to a credit union! LOL!

So…my new workdesk for the week..and yes, I’m sure all you regular followers of mine see a slight resemblance in my work areas…regardless of which, umm, venue….

Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #242

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

First: this is how  I left my desk Monday night: the main subject for my Step-Son’s birthday card…a very cool Wolf totem stamp…just not really sure how to color it.  So I’ll think about it over the week, and hopefully finish it this weekend.

I also worked on some more birthday cards, one using the distress paint resist.  I do love that look!  And I got to play some more with the gelli plate! It really is quite addictive! And now I need even more stencils. (Oh, and this is important: while Tim Holtz’ layering stencils can be used to emboss through the big shot or Vagabond, do not do so with the Kite brand Stencils; just not sturdy enough…and now I have to acquire another fish net one…) And now, just like my paper stash; now I need to figure out what to do with all the gelli prints! LOL!

OK, I’ve shown mine, now go jump to Julia’s and peek at some other creative desks! Have a good week everyone!

WOYWW # 241

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

So, without further ado: My Desk!! I’m very excited…can you see why?  Look, pieces of paper with no purpose behind them but to get them inky in many creative ways.  The pile on the left is my experiments with the new Gelli plate I got for Christmas from my Hubby.  The pile on the right is my class samples from the Online Card Class: Creative Chemistry 102! Yes, the class ran in October, and I have finally gotten around working on days 1 & 2.  This means I finally got to play with those Distress Paints I have been slowly acquiring.

If you want to see them better, my previous post has some of them split out, which you can see Here.

So there it is; the deck of a happy, stamper! With luck I’ll be able to get to Days 3 & 4 next weekend, as we have a Holiday.

OK, I've shown mine, now go jump to Julia’s and peek at some other creative desks! Have a good week everyone!

Creative Chemistry 102---Finally!

OK; The room has been cleaned; the new year is upon us, and I finally got some much needed, actual; as in no need to actually produce a card/gift, etc., inky play time!

I received the Gelli plate for Christmas from my wonderful husband, and fully wanted to just play with that. But, it said not to use inks; so as I had acquired a few of the new Distress Paints, I thought I better start with the Online Card Class: Creative Chemistry 102, taught by the Uber-talented Tim Holtz.  So here are some of my attempts for the Day 1 and Day 2 lessons.  The only one I couldn't do, was the one on an altered surface: Just couldn't find anything suitable at the time. So here they are…

Here are the Marbling, the Industrial and the Altered Metallic. This last one truly needs practice. I was too tentative with the water...will try again later. (I'm envisioning paper mache ornaments with this!)
And here are the Embossing with Layering Stencils, Embossing Through Layering Stencils, and Distress Monoprint.  This last one has possibilities; will need to explore further.

Below are the Mixed Media and the distress stamping resist...Love It!!!

And Finally..some of my first tries with the Gelli plate.  I think I need to acquire some really cheap acrylic paints for this, and also watch some video's; mine just aren't as textured/layered as some others I've seen. But fear not...I have only just begun...Hmm hmm hmm (insert Carpenter's music here)

OK, gotta run.  Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #240

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

So…this week my work desk has been my work room!!  Last week I was forced by my husband to show my room in all its post holiday distress.  Shockingly, not only did that not frighten many of you, you all sided with me that it was to be expected with all the holiday busyness.  But as promised; I did spend the weekend putting together my new bookshelf and re-organizing.  Now, the new bookshelf is a lot shorter and smaller than I expected; bummer. And my binders of U/M stamps don’t fit there, so I still have some figuring to do; and the bookshelves that were moved to the far wall still need a serious sit-down and sorting of all the paper.  But, nevertheless..Taah Dah. (Even the carpet has been vacuumed;. not that it will save it; just saying…)

Poor Dakota is looking for her bones and peanut butter jars that had been buried under all the wrapping paper and detritus of the holiday…little devil! I found 4 jars!!! She must have been stashing them up there since November! LOL! You can see the 2 bookshelves that still need a bit of sorting; and the music stand that needs to get put in another corner, after I move the Holiday stamp box and paper stack that’s behind Dakota’s rump.  But both desks are clean and ready for me to start crafting!!

What I liked of the bookshelf is that on the left side there are two adjustable shelves; perfect reaching distance for my bins of stains and inks; nice to get them up off the floor where they risked being stepped on. So for now it has some die storage; my cool TH Metal box for his U/M Sheets, and some papers that will go somewhere else.

Wheww! I feel better; maybe not cured like my Husband figured; but good to start the year with that out of the way!  So, now go visit Julia and start hopping to work desks that actually show creative work! Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #239

Happy New Year Everyone!! While I can't say 2013 was a bad year, I have to admit; I'm looking forward to 2014.  And being a Wednesday, it makes this first day even more special, as its What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday!! Julia at the Stamping Ground has all the deets there...

So, I have a caution....a warning....for the images that follow aren't pretty.  I'm also going to add my Husband is making me show these; for he made me take the pictures; something about showing my shame to the world to better myself.  I tried to explain that Christmas is a busy time; things get out of hand; and doing a right clean-up was a priority for the new year...so, those of a strong stomach...here they are:
This is from the door...My gift wrapping table, with paper, boxes, bows, etc., all within reach..really; why is he upset about this temporary situation???

OH, because of this view: Stamps, papers, inkpads, dies, paper packs, cutters; yeah, even I can't really say what is where at this moment...

But Fear Not!! Remember that part about doing a full clean-up?? Notice that big box in the top picture left?  That is my new bookshelf; courtesy a gift card and a huge Target sale (and free shipping!) That is my project over the weekend: move the 2 current bookshelves off camera, and place them on the wall where the TV is now, get that out,(as well as move those precarious boxes of ornaments) and then go from there...stay tuned!!

And again, I hope everyone has a very Healthy, Happy, Crafty and Prosperous New Year!!
(Odd how healthy has moved up in priority as I've gotten older!)
