WOYWW #351

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

OK, desk looks a mess; but it really isn’t; just some of the stuff I will have to pack up tonight for tomorrow’s stamp club meeting.  And really; how could I ever have justified getting all the distress inks in those cute little tins if I didn’t have to cart them to a meeting at least once a month?

This past weekend I got to play with my new Gelato’s, and while waiting for them to dry, my new Color Burst pigments…like Brusho’s;  so the 2 feathers and the strips are what you see from that bit of messy fun.  I think they will go into a journal page…the strips my get cut up in a TH Framelit die to use the cut out parts…In the back are my watercolor practice pieces; not sure what to do with them yet…so there they sit.  And then a few other ink pads, DI paints, stamps and dies that need to get put away.

Here is the Journal pages with the Gelatos…while I’ve had no luck smooshing them into a stencil, did you know you could shave a bit off and blend it with molding paste??  And even though it looked really med. Gray on the sheet, it dried very black!  I just used that on the right corners; as I just didn’t make enough, but maybe once I do the journaling part, I may add some more.

So there is my desk area for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to!  Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #350

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Despite having a wonderful three-day weekend, and grandiose plans on spending blissful hours in the craft room---nope; didn’t happen.  I did spend some time, but we in upstate NY had temperatures at -19 degrees—Fahrenheit with wind chills to -50… and my room gets the brunt of the wind; it was cold up there!!! So I did, wrapped in my Snuggie blanket (and if you know me; I’m never cold!) manage to get a few cards out ready, as I have 3 birthdays, a get well, and was behind on a thank you card.

Overall the desk looks quite tidy for all that, as I wasn’t hanging around to neaten.  You see my pile of watercolor practicing’s, some embossing powder jars that I have to remember to take to the club meeting; and possibly replace soon…though the white one is a PSX brand; so it’s taken over 10 years to use…some stamps that need to get put away, and my foam applicators, at least in their little drawer. And one image ready to use; despite my resolution to make at least 2 of everything, this was not the weekend!

And here are 2 of the cards that I made….the get well and the thank you; the rest I’ll show later.

So there is my desk area for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to!  Have a great week everyone!

The Scary Watercolor Lesson!

I had to do it before the Online Watercolor Class "Watercolor for Cardmakers: Intermediate Techniques" officially ended, in case I had final questions for the instructors.

Swarup Murthy did an advanced wet on wet lesson; watching her painting emerge from the paper was just amazing.  So, here is my final piece of the night...

Again, compared to the first day of lessons, a whole heap of improvement; so don't worry; my brushes will not be neglected even though tomorrow is the last day the class is "live".  That's what I love with these classes; I can keep watching them for ever!

Oh, and for disclosure...here is the first sample I tried. It looked ok; I went to bring the dog in, and BAM!  color runnage everywhere!  The one above is 4 attempts later...so even in a night there can be improvement.

Thanks for stopping by and supporting my watercolor endeavors.  Your comments and encouragements have been most appreciated! Have a great weekend everyone..

oh...And GO PANTHERS!!

More water coloring...Valentines card

I Got more practice in last night (really should be practicing the flute..but hey; still using the creative side of the brain...

The one technique from the Online Card Classes "Watercolor for Cardmakers; Intermediate Techniques" I really want to get a handle on is the Negative Painting one, I still need to leave more of the subject empty, so I can get more of the "lost and found" edges; but I'm getting better with the amount of water and also avoiding the muddy browns.

I thought I had a better stamp for the card; but couldn't find it; so this one would have to do.  I was torn between having the ink show to give interest, and just doing the outline, but went this way.

So not so negative; but still a long way from where I was last Monday.  The next post will be my attempt at the "advanced" lesson from day 6,

WOYWW #348

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Another busy week! I’ve actually been in the craft room 5 times!!! Shocking!  So still practicing for the Online Cardmaking Class, “Watercolor for card makers, intermediate techniques”.

So scattered about are the strips left over from trimming card panels, which are perfect for perfecting brush strokes and checking on color, a few of the cards on the left, and the various other tools, ready to picked up tonight!  Only 2 more days of the class still be “live” so if questions pop up I can still ask the instructors.  Gotta say; I do love their classes!

There are some inks out, as I had to make a quick birthday card for my nephew..while I was on time, he’ll get it late, so….Here it is:Picture not great as I only thought to photograph it as I was putting itin the envelope.

And ‘cause I finally liked one of my watercolor cards, here is that up close.  Getting there…slowly….

So there is my desk area for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to!  Have a great week everyone!

Watercolor Eureka! Moment

Thank heavens for going back to the previous lessons! Being a musician, I know the importance of practice, but still.  Kristina Werner shared a quick expressive floral lesson; and my first attempts were truly horrid.  I didn't even take pictures to prove it.  But then.....

Ta Da! Still by no means perfect..but it will be going to my mother for Mother's Day!

And again; my splatter is getting worse! LOL!  I'll add some sequins as this was still drying, and then it will good to go.

So stay tuned; now I'll just be practicing for the rest of the week, And I will pull up my big girl panties and get on that  Advanced lesson....

OCC Watercolor IT Day 6

Very excited! I managed to only be 1 day behind for these classes; so I have a whole week to further practice and still ask questions to the instructors!  While the Advanced lesson by Swarup is simply amazing...I'm so not there yet! But Jennifer McGuire's Bonus lesson seemed approachable...so here is my rendition. I know we're not to aim at a "real" flower look for the expressive flowers, but I couldn't help but think of California Poppies; so there ya' go.

Funny: as my overall techniques have progressed, my splatter has degressed...can't even begin to figure out why.

Stay tuned for more watercolor samples...

More OCC Watercolor homework! Day 4

First; wishing I could link multiple photos from one blog post; but is seems it can't, so there you go; I haven't posted this much on over a year!

The last day of lessons, while totally stunning, have completely flummoxed me; so I stepped back a few days to get more practice in.  And shocking, actually made some pieces that worked for cards!

So here is my Day 4 Stamped Scene's card; gotta love the Tim Holtz Blueprint stamps; and now I'll be able to use them all in a whole new way!

Be posting my other cards following! Thanks for stopping by.
