Happy 9th Anniversary, WOYWW! #468

Happy WOYWW! And not just any WOYWW…but the 9th Anniversary of this wonderful blog hop
hosted by the lovely Julia at The Stamping Ground where we open our craft room doors to show what our work desks look like on Wednesday.  And to show what fun crafty items everyone is working on.

Nine years; remarkable longevity for anything these days—especially something so intangible as a virtual community.  This alone should be proof that creativity, common interest and mutual respect can save the world.  Unfortunately sending art journals and finger paints to every hostile region probably is a bit too simplistic.  Ah well, at least we have our Wednesday’s to touch base with our own tribe!  Thank you Julia.

So, on to our main purpose; and ironically based on another virtual community—is my workdesk.  I saw a video on face book; the one with the woman showing string pull art.  So Cool!  So I had to try it!

There was a bit of trial and error.  I used a beading cord, thinking it would be more durable. Yes, but it isn’t very “bendy” so it was hard to get a good number of loops, swirls etc. Nor was it that absorbent…I found Dylusions spray inks worked best, but another friend used Bakers Twine, and could use regular paint and ink, so I’ll try that next.

Here are some more images...cause I think they are so cool! LOL!

And here is a little ATC Book Box I made to hold the ATC swaps we received at the Back to Back retreat. I used Dina Wakley’s Media paints and stamped on her collage tissue paper. The box is by Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts, and I’ve ordered a few more to hold all my WOYWW swaps from over the years.

So, there you have it.  Now jump back to Julia’s and see some more creative spaces.  And here’s to another crafty year!

  7. What a fabulous technique, Kim. I think you have it mastered, even if the string you used was hard to bend. You still got excellent results. Whoever came up with this technique is amazing.

Your ATC box is beautiful and will do its duty holding all the ATCs. Hope you are enjoying the WOYWW party. Happy 9th anniversary from #13.

  14. This is the second time I've seen the string painting this week, Kim - I have no idea how it's done, but it's really beautiful! Thank you for your lovely comment - yes, I'm feeling tons better now and it's just great, gradually getting back to normal and starting to enjoy life again, and above all to get back in the studio! So glad you liked my project A good one to re-start on - to celebrate our anniversary, to celebrate life given back to me, and to celebrate my wonderful hubby who does so much for me and without whom I probably wouldn't still be here!

Happy belated WOYWW and 9th anniversary,

  16. Well you made that box into a treasure! It’s just lovely. I share your thing about birds. And your blog header says it all for me. And your first couple paragraphs....wouldn’t it be great if we could unite the world in finger painting!! The string technique is amazing, i find the results are quite mesmeric, ethereal even. I;m late so can already thank you for the lovely ATC and for thinking of me...you always do. Thank you. X

  25. Hi Kim, great try with that technique. I think we've all been intrigued by that video. I shared another one I came across on You Tube, with a lady doing it using old necklace chains, just dipping in ink, laying down then pulling off. No second card or book, just pulling the chain off. I was surprised how many You Tube videos there were of this, tbh. Have a lovely week, Happy 9th Anniversary, Hugs, Shaz #6 XXX
