Here we are; the last challenge of the Compendium of CuriositiesVol. 2 challenges hosted by Linda at Studio L3. And this week is a “choose your
favorite technique” to create a birthday card for the Man who started it all,
Tim Holtz!
As I received all the new seasonal distress stains for
Christmas (Thank you SIL Robin!!) I had to play with those, so I used the Marbleized
Stains technique, using Squeezed Lemonade and Ripe Persimmon. The Lemonade sorta got lost, but it created a
nice shading of the persimmon. I used
the specialty stamping paper, which really has a lot of “mushyness” to move the
inks around. Just be sure to heat set between, well, everything! The stamp is a Stampers Anonymous, done in
Forest Moss. I used Distress markers on the butterfly I then punched out for
the cash key.
The picture isn’t showing the depth of colors on the
background, and as I’m not sure if I’ll actually mail it yet or not, I didn’t
want to get it too heavy or bulky, just in case. And I have such issues with guy cards as it
is…so we’ll consider it a good warm-up for the New Year. And one of my
Resolutions for the year…to follow Tim’s 12 Tags of 2013…so that should keep me
in good Distress form!
Thank you again Linda, for again leading us through these marvelous books. It's too bad all technique books don't have a champion like you to lead people through cover to cover. They go from a collection on the shelf to a useful tool in our creative process!
Love this card! It's a perfect end to Linda's CC2C challenges!
