WOYWW #252-Butterfly Success!!

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

What a difference a week makes….last week I showed a desk of mass destruction and disappointment.  This week…the detritus is cleared, and perseverance has won out.

What am I going on about? The Sizzix Pop and Cut Butterfly insert die. And while I haven’t received my Sizzix shipment yet with the backing die, I did make do...using...get ready…a piece of my Gelli Plate prints (yup, I can hear you gasp from here!)

So, you see the finished card.  The White drawer goes in the cabinet that hangs on the wall, and is holding my Dylusions Ink Sprays. Sitting on the ink pads are some additional butterflies I cut out, but thought were too bright. To the right are the stencils I used. Now, as this was a test to see if I could get it to work, I really wasn’t thinking about the actual coloring.  I’ve decided, that while I like the butterfly wings to be veined (I used a very large Stamp Camp butterfly stamp, and just inked the tips of the wings to fit on the cut one) I think black was too much, and will use a softer brown next time.
Oh, and here is the finished card…in all its flipping glory!! Not that the photos are great...but you get the idea...

So, there it is…now go stop by Julia’s and hop around the world to other great desks! Happy Crafting everyone.

  1. Wow, that's such an amazing card. It looks really complicated to make...I love the insidey bit (technical term there!) and the way the butterfly twists around. Can you tell I don't do papercrafting and haven't got a clue what I'm saying, lolol!!
But I really love the effect :-)
    Hugs, LLJ 8 xx

  2. I like your sentiment that you have put inside the card too. It is so appropriate. I do think it has worked out rather well and I don't mind the black, perhaps put a pop of black elsewhere on the card so it is not so isolated. #63

  3. Hello hello to you too! Beautiful work! I love how the butterfly pops out. Happy WOYWW to you. Wendy #94

  4. Oh my, it's worth all the experimenting and cutting and's a fab card, and your desk is all word, win win win!

  5. Great technique on the card. Love how you improvised rather than waiting for the sizzix shipment. A harbinger of spring if ever there was one. Nice! Creative Blessings! Kelly #97

  6. What a lovely card, and congrats on getting your space cleared! I must find out more about gelli plates - I'm seeing them mentioned all over the place these days. Have a great week, Chris 53 x

  7. Ah now I see ... At the end why all the fiddling insidely bit as LLJ put it. Gorgeous worth all the trouble and it will be easier next time

  8. Great card, I adore that colour scheme. Well worth the effort!

  9. oh wow! what a cool card design and good for you for figuring out how to make it work without all the parts too. ( sometime I think I will have to go looking for this ) but, I have not figured out the oh shoot one of the Pro Die's tri shutter that I got for Christmas yet. Stacy #99
