WOYWW # 241

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

So, without further ado: My Desk!! I’m very excited…can you see why?  Look, pieces of paper with no purpose behind them but to get them inky in many creative ways.  The pile on the left is my experiments with the new Gelli plate I got for Christmas from my Hubby.  The pile on the right is my class samples from the Online Card Class: Creative Chemistry 102! Yes, the class ran in October, and I have finally gotten around working on days 1 & 2.  This means I finally got to play with those Distress Paints I have been slowly acquiring.

If you want to see them better, my previous post has some of them split out, which you can see Here.

So there it is; the deck of a happy, stamper! With luck I’ll be able to get to Days 3 & 4 next weekend, as we have a Holiday.

OK, I've shown mine, now go jump to Julia’s and peek at some other creative desks! Have a good week everyone!

Creative Chemistry 102---Finally!

OK; The room has been cleaned; the new year is upon us, and I finally got some much needed, actual; as in no need to actually produce a card/gift, etc., inky play time!

I received the Gelli plate for Christmas from my wonderful husband, and fully wanted to just play with that. But, it said not to use inks; so as I had acquired a few of the new Distress Paints, I thought I better start with the Online Card Class: Creative Chemistry 102, taught by the Uber-talented Tim Holtz.  So here are some of my attempts for the Day 1 and Day 2 lessons.  The only one I couldn't do, was the one on an altered surface: Just couldn't find anything suitable at the time. So here they are…

Here are the Marbling, the Industrial and the Altered Metallic. This last one truly needs practice. I was too tentative with the water...will try again later. (I'm envisioning paper mache ornaments with this!)
And here are the Embossing with Layering Stencils, Embossing Through Layering Stencils, and Distress Monoprint.  This last one has possibilities; will need to explore further.

Below are the Mixed Media and the distress stamping resist...Love It!!!

And Finally..some of my first tries with the Gelli plate.  I think I need to acquire some really cheap acrylic paints for this, and also watch some video's; mine just aren't as textured/layered as some others I've seen. But fear not...I have only just begun...Hmm hmm hmm (insert Carpenter's music here)

OK, gotta run.  Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #240

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

So…this week my work desk has been my work room!!  Last week I was forced by my husband to show my room in all its post holiday distress.  Shockingly, not only did that not frighten many of you, you all sided with me that it was to be expected with all the holiday busyness.  But as promised; I did spend the weekend putting together my new bookshelf and re-organizing.  Now, the new bookshelf is a lot shorter and smaller than I expected; bummer. And my binders of U/M stamps don’t fit there, so I still have some figuring to do; and the bookshelves that were moved to the far wall still need a serious sit-down and sorting of all the paper.  But, nevertheless..Taah Dah. (Even the carpet has been vacuumed;. not that it will save it; just saying…)

Poor Dakota is looking for her bones and peanut butter jars that had been buried under all the wrapping paper and detritus of the holiday…little devil! I found 4 jars!!! She must have been stashing them up there since November! LOL! You can see the 2 bookshelves that still need a bit of sorting; and the music stand that needs to get put in another corner, after I move the Holiday stamp box and paper stack that’s behind Dakota’s rump.  But both desks are clean and ready for me to start crafting!!

What I liked of the bookshelf is that on the left side there are two adjustable shelves; perfect reaching distance for my bins of stains and inks; nice to get them up off the floor where they risked being stepped on. So for now it has some die storage; my cool TH Metal box for his U/M Sheets, and some papers that will go somewhere else.

Wheww! I feel better; maybe not cured like my Husband figured; but good to start the year with that out of the way!  So, now go visit Julia and start hopping to work desks that actually show creative work! Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #239

Happy New Year Everyone!! While I can't say 2013 was a bad year, I have to admit; I'm looking forward to 2014.  And being a Wednesday, it makes this first day even more special, as its What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday!! Julia at the Stamping Ground has all the deets there...

So, I have a caution....a warning....for the images that follow aren't pretty.  I'm also going to add my Husband is making me show these; for he made me take the pictures; something about showing my shame to the world to better myself.  I tried to explain that Christmas is a busy time; things get out of hand; and doing a right clean-up was a priority for the new year...so, those of a strong stomach...here they are:
This is from the door...My gift wrapping table, with paper, boxes, bows, etc., all within reach..really; why is he upset about this temporary situation???

OH, because of this view: Stamps, papers, inkpads, dies, paper packs, cutters; yeah, even I can't really say what is where at this moment...

But Fear Not!! Remember that part about doing a full clean-up?? Notice that big box in the top picture left?  That is my new bookshelf; courtesy a gift card and a huge Target sale (and free shipping!) That is my project over the weekend: move the 2 current bookshelves off camera, and place them on the wall where the TV is now, get that out,(as well as move those precarious boxes of ornaments) and then go from there...stay tuned!!

And again, I hope everyone has a very Healthy, Happy, Crafty and Prosperous New Year!!
(Odd how healthy has moved up in priority as I've gotten older!)

WOYWW #236

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.
This week, I am happy to report all my Christmas cards are done  Now, that is not to say I may still play around with some ideas, as I have 4 stamps new this year that I haven’t even inked yet…and I did make that vow that I’d be far more prepared for the craft fair and general card making in the future …but at least the pressure is off. Well, now I have to make them out and send them, but you know…

So what you do see now (and now that I’m looking, I really do hope those ink pad lids are closed!) is the birthday card I literally whipped up for our orchestra conductor, whose birthday is the same as Beethoven’s, and for our last concert of the season we will be celebrating both with a big cake and snacks… And for once I can say thank heavens for patterned layout paper, as that is the background for the card.  I really didn’t do much to it at all; just the happy birthday stamp, put a bit more color on the violin, and stamped the inside.
And, not that you can really tell, but yes, there are a few more jars of the distress paint holding up that little drawer that holds my distress foam applicators.  6 more,, thanks to Joann’s wonderful 40% sales.  While I’ll be at the Cape this weekend having Christmas with my Husband’s family, I swear I will be cracking those babies open in the next week…so stay tuned! LOL!

Have a great week everybody!

WOYWW #235

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.
Once again, or still….my desk is the flurry of assembly line card production!  This week: card fronts I took to work to color on my lunch hours and was planning to finish Sunday, but then I had to make a sympathy card for my husband’s boss.  So hopefully tonight I’ll finish up these stacks...and then only 15 more to make! Note to self…print out address labels.

The card with the calla lily, mid left, was going to be the sympathy card, but I decided it didn’t work…but I forgot to take a picture of the one he’ll send instead. And the Christmas tree in the back, a card that will go in my departments office party door prize basket…maybe…not sure I’m liking it at the moment. Also true now looking at the trains…need more color…maybe red in the oval instead of yellow….hmmmmm.
And the Scotch Mounting tape…the roll I SWORE I bought a little while ago (but not a year ago) but couldn’t find after fruitless hours of searching...I found it in my little carry case I put my projects in take to work…so yes, a year ago.. So, yay, not totally losing my mind: always good to know.  And no...still haven't touched the Distress paints....but soon, my pretties...sooon!

So, there it is, in its perpetual busy state.  Perhaps after the New Year I’ll be able to neaten up a tad….but that won’t be a Resolution! LOL! Have a great week everybody!

WOYWW #234

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

My desk…the flurry of assembly line card production! It is with mixed emotions that I report I netted $156 from the craft show sales. Yay! Money! Boo, now I need to make another 45 cards for me to send out! LOL! But, I have the money to restock some of my paper…but, not enough to go back to the shop Hettie brought me to, to stuff a box of the lovely red paper that I used up on these cards.

And yes, everyone from there was right on the money…Woodware is the stamp company, and while not in pick cellophane, it does have a pink cardboard insert…Koodos to Hettie! (see..top left) So there are my trees all spread out to allow the few drops of gold stickles to dry on a few of the splatters of the stamp. Just to give a bit extra sparkle and texture…I tried gold embossing tinsel, but just didn’t like it.

Oh, and I broke down…see in the back right corner…those few jars…9 to be precise… yes, I picked up some Distress Paints. Joann’s had them in sets, and I had coupons…40% off…so there they are. I haven’t opened them yet…but as I have Friday off, and I’ll get a good chunk of my cards done, I am planning to play this weekend. And who knows…there are a few more color sets there, and I have another coupon…
So, there it is…in all its glory…

I hope everyone has a crafty week, and to my US friends, a Very Happy Thanksgiving!
