Grungy but Stickly Goodness- GM 20

Wow-almost missed another week of Linda's Studio L3 Grungy Monday Challenge! Drat that work! But, with a huge thunderstorm raging, and the humidity a good reason not to clean my floors...(the whole reason I took the afternoon off! LOL) I snuck up to my craft room, and WHAM! My poor neglected muse tackled me, threw a new stamp in my face, stickle bottles were rolling everywhere..and Ta Daaa! a new ATC for my Grungy Monday 7 Gypsies ATC Tray!

So, what was the challege this week? To play with Tim Holtz's Distress Stickles of course! I started with my new pear stamp from Impression Obsession. I colored it with Prismacolor pencils, and then used Mustard Seed Distress Stickles on the yellow pear, Shabby Shutter DS's on the two green pears, and little blops of Vintage Photo DS on the pits. Everything was going wonderfully--not smudging the stickles, until I decided to run some black soot DI just on the edges, then went to try to dry the stickles a bit further before gluing down, and sure enough smudged the black ink. ah well! I then layered it over Core'dinatons Vintage Dk. Green, which I sanded on the edges-I am so loving that paper! Now, I have a close up of the stickles as well as one of the tray so far, but my dial-up isnt loading anything, so my patience may make you wait for the tray one next time. Grungy Monday #17

So upset that I missed my first week since the start of the CCC and GM! But work called-and life reared its ugly head! So back with a vengance (god, can't spell!) and of course, the Rock Candy Stickles is..well stickless! So first, go over to Linda's L3 Studio and see which wonderful product from Tim Holtz we get to play with.

So, here we are. I tried to take a picture to show the few sparkly stickel left. I tried smearing some in the folds of the rosette, but again, barely seen even real life! So, now go check out Linda's, visit Tim, and get Rocked!

A Splash..A Smidge...A Dollop of Color: PDCC #71

Wow! I feel like I haven't visited the Play Date Cafe in forever!! But, despite the power outage (or maybe because of it) yesterday afternoon, I was still able to get some serious crafting done. I had a ton of cards to work on (some will be posted later) and I kept looking at them with an eye on "Just a Splash" of color. For this week, the color was our choice, but just a splash of one, and only one! And, yup; failed on the first few...what can I say? I Love color! But, for St. Patrick's day, of all things, I managed to stop before things got crazy. So here is my "Splash of Green". I did add some Rock Candy Stickles to the clover, for a bit of shimmer/texture, but I think my bottle is out of the rock candy, and is only glue! LOL! I guess it's time for a new bottle, as I didn't notice any of the glitter in there at all! The clover was colored with pencils, as was the mouse, and DI's Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters were edged around the card. This will be heading to my Mom for St. Patrick's. I hope next week is green too, so maybe I can get the rest done early as well! So Hop on over to the Play Date Cafe and see what other splashes are out there! Have a great crafty week everyone!

Rock Candy Distress

Hello bloggers, it has been a tough, depressing week at our house, and having work block blogger from their computers has just added to my misery. So, I'm taking this moment to congratulate everyone on their 12 Days tags and Compenium Challenge entries. I just can't get in to post comments on everyones blogs when I'm at home.

So, between vet calls and crying jags, I was able to get some time in to finish my last Christmas card design (Thanks to Linda and the last challenge) and play with my Rock Candy Stickles. This is week #24, and all the details are over at Studio L3. Now, I have to ask...Is it possible to have used all the glitter, and be left with just the glue stuff in my stickles bottle?? The detail above does show some of the glittery effect, but, boy, it feels shellacked I had to use so much!! LOL!

We can't give away the technique, of course (you need to get your own copy of Tim's book) but I just have to say, getting a collage together was my toughest part. I did delve into his 12 Tags hints to color the ribbon--and have nicely spotted lettuce stained jeans to boot!! (And yes, I was spritzing onto the craft sheet, not my legs...yesh! I have no idea...)

Distress Stickles!

Welcome Week #10! I've been looking forward to this technique for a while...a reason to use all my pretty stickles bottles! (Yeah, that hording..need all colors thing...)

So...with all my bottles lined up..the possibilites!! Settled on flowers..I had cut some at my old stamp store on the Cape, and thought the outlines would mirror Tim's technique sort of. After inking, I covered the flowers with Mustard Seed, Dried Marigold,touch of Fired Brick, Milled Lavender, touch of Dusty Concord, Faded Denim, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint. (Almost all but the browns and metals! LOL!) I found I liked dabbing more than spreading; more texture was left that way. The saying is from Rubbernecker Stamps.

Got everything all glued down; and Dumb...Stupid...Me...couldn't leave well enough alone...thought leaves and a vine would be nice... Part of my brain was shouting "Stop! Less is More"..and yet my poor, uncoordinated hand had to grap the peeled paint bottle and start squirting! LOL! Ah well, "it is what it is", as the saying goes! I have found that Simon Says Stamp is also running a weekly challenge, and this week its stamping in the Wendy Vecchi-Studio 490 Style. Just discovering Wendy, I hope this sort of works; I've noticed she has flowers on almost everything...so this is going there as well...I hope it isn't too wrong.
