WOYWW #251--What a mess...

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess,Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

/sigh….Great plans for my weekend craft time.  I had gotten the Sizzix Butterfly Pop and Cuts insert months ago, then found out I needed (well, not really, but you all know me by now…) the Pop and Cuts base tray, which came with the circle label insert.  So they have been sitting on my “new items to play with” pile since the end of summer. And this weekend I was going to just run amok (amok amok amok…, oh, sorry; voice in head) with playing with those dies.

1. Sizzix doesn't sell the butterfly insert anymore. The instructions I could find where for the circle. Not the same.  2.  As my town is still in the ice age of technology, I couldn't connect to you tube to find any instructions/videos on how to get it to do its thing… did get the circle one to work though…3.  Got to the point where I didn't want to keep wasting paper (paper!…note, I’m using recycled file folders from work…free…really???) to keep at it.  At this point I couldn't even come up with ideas for the circle one (my mind really wants that butterfly) and my iced tea just wasn't cutting it either….

So, I gave up; this is what is still sitting there.  At work I did finally get a video, and turns out the one front right is correct, but you need a backing piece that’s not a full card, which you’d use for the circle…and yes, Sizzix sells one with pretty scalloped edges just for this 3D style.  Yup, it’s on order…

So, there it is…now go stop by Julia’s and hop around the world to other great desks! Happy Crafting everyone.

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

A real quick post this week…I realized my Aunt’s Birthday is next Monday; and she’s a bit, emmm, strange; if her card comes after the day, she won’t open them.  Feels if it’s not important enough for her family and friends to get things on time, then it’s not important enough to look at…so no taking the chance of a delay in delivery!

I saw this technique on the eclecticPaperie blog, using stencils (my new best friends) distress inks and water… looked so simple. Yeah, good thing I've given myself a few days leeway; I wasn't thrilled how it came out.. although it looks better in the photo than it did last night.  I’ll research it again on my lunch hour and give it another go tonight.

So, there it is…now go stop by Julia’s and hop around the world to other great desks! Happy Crafting everyone.

So….I think I've mentioned before how each department at work is responsible for one charity event to fund our staff charity…and our Easter Egg Hunt and Jelly bean guess was ninja-ed by the human resources department.. so we, the credit union (can you believe my Halloween Blood-Bank idea..credit union..bank..get it? was shot down??) decided on a Luck of the Irish 50/50 raffle, and then, not leaving it at that, I decided to sell St. Patrick’s day cards.  I figured 3-5 tops…made 3 samples to show at breakfast, then took orders.  Sold 15!!!!  I had promised them for Monday……oh, and some people wanted alterations….So…a card making frenzy on Sunday, and this is what is left…

My drawer of Celtic mounted stamps-which need to get re-organized in puzzle fashion so that all are nicely distributed and no rubber will be harmed (many of the stamps are now retired, or the company gone, so I’m treating them like treasured antiques!!) Some ink pads that couldn't make it the 3 inches to their nooks (and I complain my husband can’t get dishes the 2 feet from the sink to dishwasher! LOL!)
Some scraps of the gold embossed border, and two cards I deemed unworthy, so will be in the sample book.
Here is the one I like…

So exciting…I got even more playtime in the craft room this weekend, and I’m a step closer to showing my newest project!  But today is the leftover mess from my practice attempt.  A canvas panel on the side, a brand new jar of Gel Medium….funky stuff!  I’m seeing if those little reusable food containers will keep my diluted gel medium wet for a few days, or not... The cutter has trimmings from my gelli plate printings…and a few more sheets are to the right.  Oh, the yellow one has a cool feather stencil, it didn't
all come out, but it was too cool (IMO) to cut…yes, I do foresee serious gelli print hoarding…

I hope everyone had a great weekend; and those of you  in the Northeast are finally dug out…I still think Winter is my 2nd best season…but it’s definitely Dakota’s favorite!!

And, even with the snow, I managed to get to Massachusetts for another gelli plate play date with BFF Julie, (no pics this  time…but just wait to see what we’re up to!)  And I even got some time in my own room…making a birthday card for my nephew’s 8th birthday.

So, the desk is after the card clean-up…The TH Birthday Blueprint stamps are top center…there are some photo corners in the little bin on the left…so I can finally get my Christmas Card Samples in their book.. some experiments of the card top-right….OH…and BTW…You can use Picket Fence Distress Paint  with Distress Stains to get a marbled stain effect….and yes, I should be able to tell which bottle I pick up---but still….The funny blotchy paper far right is my brayer roll off for when I do use the gelli plate. Oh, and the coolest..the pear is a gift from Julie using TH’s Industrial Metal technique to go into my pear basket wall hanging I’m currently envisioning…haven’t actually started yet, just acquiring items and ideas…

SO, here is the marbled paint/stain background, then the card…

And my Dakota…couldn’t not show her!

Good news….I got in my craft room this weekend! And Look…the wolf that has been sitting there for 3 WEEKS has been finished.  So what you see ready to be put away is the stamp, from Earth Arts International, the dies I used, and, yes, in the top left….proof that if you have an addictive personality, it is good to  channel away from harmful stuff, and (despite my husband’s take on this) redirect it to less harmful addictions…like Gelli Plate printing…and liking my friend’s paints so much I had to get my own…Oh, and how yesterday I went back to AC Moore to get even more..still sitting on my floor in my office at work…Well, you do see the sub-title of my Blog….I’m only stating the truth…Now to find a space for all my tubes of paint…

Oh, and here is the wolf card finished for my Step-son’s Birthday. And yes, one of the gelli prints was used for the background. Such a plus that I’m actually using them!

So...there is mine…I’ll hop around  to yours.  Have a Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

WOYWW #244

Happy WOYWW Everyone! That is short for “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”, the brilliant blog hop initiated by our lovely hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground….and you can see all the deets there.

Now, as many of you know, I only get into my crafting room on weekends, so once again…there has been no changes to my desk from 2 weeks ago…same wolf stamp waiting for coloring inspiration…
BUT: I had a play date on Saturday with my friend who lives in Massachusetts. And we got to play with our Gelli Plates.  Mine is the purchased one my Hubby bought me for Christmas, and Julie’s is one she made the old fashioned way.  Very Cool…really; it has to be refrigerated!  So I’m sharing her work desk, as it is infinitely more interesting. If you must; look back two postings, and you’ll see my sad, pathetic one! LOL!)

And Julie has all the cool paints. I only have a few of the TH Distress Paints, which work pretty well, but I tend to be stingy with, and some cheapo Apple Barrel craft paints, which dry really fast and don’t pull well.  So new on my expanding shopping list: Liquitex Basics Acrylics (And how convenient…they are on sale at AC Moore this week: 3/$10!

So there are our prints…and also added to the list…more stencils! Green Pepper Press is calling my name! We are going to try our hand at the Gelli Print Ombre Collage that we saw on YouTube...go check that out!

And, even better, I have used one of the prints for a Valentines Day card for my Honey. (Hmm, maybe I can ask for all the red paints at AC Moore!)

So..there is mine,  err, Julie's desk…I’ll hop around  to yours.  Have a great week everyone!
